WHAT WE DID IT & WHY
Designing the next generation router that will be used by millions of people every day
The Connectivity Concept is born after a strong collaboration between Deutsche Telekom and studio LAYER.
This new family of products reaches the goal to make boring and technical smart devices a design element that blends cohesively in your home.
A router, a mesh repeater, a set top/soundbar with a webcam, a set top box and a remote designed to create a new language and communicate between each other, giving back to you a complete experience, simple to use and inspired by the residential home unintrusive design that the studio is awarded for.
Set-top soundbar
Earthy shades, textiles, rounded shapes to embrace the essence of our set box/soundbar
Webcam
The webcam is an independent micro device, smooth and warm colored
Router
An interactive screen on our sky azure router makes internet control easy and elegant
Great attention was paid during the definition of the materiality of the collection: from ceramic-like finishes to sleek mirrored surfaces, including natural textiles and gleaming brushed metals, the aesthetic of the Connectivity Concept changes completely the perception that we have of this smart home devices.
The collection brings in simple and geometrical forms, discrete interfaces, and a strong tactile presence that are able to transform those devices from cold objects to real inhabitants of the house atmosphere.
Remote
Stone like shaped, the remote is designed ergonomically without leaving the aesthetics aside
Mesh repeater
The disc shaped repeater mimes a wood texture to recall a natural feeling
Set-top box
The set top box recalls natural shapes without forgoing smart lights and features
Simple and geometrical forms, discrete interfaces, and a strong tactile presence.
The collection will be/has been presented during the Salone del Mobile 2022, in Milan, in an immersive exhibition, also curated by LAYER.
